Here is my menu for this year’s Thanksgiving feast. I’m trying to keep it easy since I’m no professional cook, but I want to keep it fresh and somewhat healthy.
Herbed Cheese Straws that I found at Shutterbean. These look delish and the recipe looks somewhat simple. I bet there are tons of variations I could come up with using this recipe.
Green Bean and Onion Casserole- made from scratch. The traditional green bean casserole made with the cream of mushroom soup and canned green beans is no more. This year we are using fresh green beans and real cream. Just sans the mushrooms..this sparklepantsgirl can’t seem to stomach them. The recipe here.
Easy Herb Roasted Turkey- I made the turkey this way last year and it was juicy and perfect, recipe here. This Roasted Turkey recipe from Martha looks simple and tasty too.
This Roasted Butternut, Sausage and Fennel stuffing from Gimme Some Oven looks amazing. The recipe says it takes two hours to prepare, which makes me sweat a little. This may be a task delegated to Mr. Sparklepants.
My perfect mashed potatoes.. which is a mixture of cream cheese, sour cream, butter, onion salt and obviously potatoes. No real recipe, just keep adding stuff ’til it tastes right!
And then there’s my favorite part..dessert!
I’m fixin’ for Pumpkin Cheesecake but Mr. Sparklepants likes chocolate. My friend’s Aunt Paula has a recipe here for a mean pumpkin cheesecake. I still have an uncarved pumpkin from Halloween decorating my entryway, so I’m thinking of using that instead of the canned stuff. I haven’t done that before, but I’m up for trying. I’m not too sure yet about the chocolate dessert.. Any suggestions?
Well, there ya go for my Thanksgiving menu. I haven’t ever made half of these recipes, but I’m sure it’ll be good no matter what. It’ll only be the Mr., the sparkletots and I so there should be lots of yummy leftovers. It’s all about the leftovers!
