Who is ready to decorate and make crafts for Christmas? I am! I’ve been ready since Labor Day. Seriously.
Today I’m going to show you a fun way to decorate little paper houses with Scotch® Expressions Tapes. I’ve always been fascinated by little houses. Perhaps my imagination gets the best of me. Combine that with my love of glitter and sparkle, and well, you’ve got Christmas!
The best part about these Scotch® Expressions Tapes is that the glitter doesn’t shed. You wont find glitter on the floor, on the dog, or in your eye. Plus Scotch® Expressions Tapes aren’t just for the holidays, the tape is perfect for year round crafting with a variety of colors and uses.
Head on over to Walmart, where you’ll find the Scotch® Expressions Tapes in the craft aisle and the Scotch® Brand Double Sided Tape in the office supply aisle.
Supplies~
- Scotch® Expressions Tape
- Scotch® Create Double Sided Tape
- 110# Cardstock
- Scissors
- 26 gauge floral wire
- Waxed paper
For the icicles~
Take approximately 9 inches of the silver glitter tape and lay it on waxed paper. Cut little triangles into one side of the tape. Set aside.
For the house~
You can download the house template here. Be sure to print out two copies to make one house. Cut out around the house and the roof. Fold the tabs so the gray lines are inside.
Fold the roof in half and unfold. Fold the long side of the roof 1/4 inch in. This will be for the icicles. Decorate the roof with metallic tape. Tape the icicle tape to the long sides of the roof.
Use the Scotch® Create Double Sided Tape to affix the tabs of the house together.
For the wreath~
Lay 9 inches of green glitter tape with the sticky side up. Take approximately 1 foot of wire and put it in the middle of the tape, lengthwise. Fold the tape in half.
Hold one end of the wire with one hand, and with the thumb and forefinger of the other hand, gently scrunch the tape down the wire. It might help to start in the middle, and scrunch down a small section at a time. Twist the ends of the wire together to form a circle, and cut of excess wire, leaving an inch.
For the bow~
Take 3 inches of red sparkly tape, lay it down sticky side up. Lay 5 inches of wire across it. Fold tape over itself so the wire is inside. Take a second shorter length of tape and a second wire and do the same. Trim the shorter tape so it is thinner than the first. Fold the first into a bow like shape, then wrap the thinner tape around the middle to form the bow. Twist so it holds. Trim the wires from the bottom of the bow. Use the wires on the back to affix bow to the wreath.
The wreaths were so adorable, I couldn’t resist making a bunch and creating a little wreath garland.
Put it all together and decorate with your favorite color glittery and metallic tapes.
These little houses would look so cute with windows cut-out and little battery powered tea lights inside. Or hang them from the tree and let the lights dance and reflect off the glitter!
