I’m not much of a jewelry wearer. I’ll buy earrings, and by the time I actually get around to wearing them they are out of style. Does anyone even wear hoops anymore? And necklaces feel weird around my neck. Yes, I have a neck thing. Don’t touch my neck. Ever. Seriously. I’ll get mad. Rings are great. I leave them on all the time. But it’s a pain when they get paint on them. Problems of a crafter.
Bracelets and watches though, I just love them. I believe that a well-made watch is one of the classiest things a person can wear. When you are wearing a watch you don’t have to be that obnoxious person that pulls out your ginormous smart phone to check the time, you just subtly glance at your wrist. This could be particularly useful when on a bad date, or at the mother-in-law’s house. Don’t be rude…wear a watch.
This Anne Klein Box Set from Dillard’s is the epitome of elegant and classy. It was hard to decide which box set I wanted with so many options. I ultimately chose a set in rose gold with Swarovski® crystals. To me the set is modern yet timeless.
I was so happy with the customer service at Dillard’s. They cheerfully showed me each of the sets and when I made my decision they took links out of the watch for me and made sure it fit. The watch and bracelets are very versatile and will fit most wrists. The set is a perfectly classy gift, for that perfectly classy lady. And it doesn’t come with a hefty price tag!
The bracelets and watch come in a sturdy box that makes for super easy gift wrapping. Speaking of gift wrapping…a classy gift shouldn’t just be thrown in a bag. A gift this elegant needs to be wrapped elegantly with a gorgeous bow. Let me show you how.
Classy Gift Wrapping
What you need~
solid color wrapping paper
wired ribbon
tape
double-sided tape
scissors
optional~ gift tags, ornaments, evergreen sprigs, silk flowers, etc.
Wrap your gift. If the gift is square or rectangle shaped, then get to wrapping. If not, then find a box if you can. This year instead of fancy, shiny gift wrap, I am opting for dark blue kraft paper. Kraft paper comes in multiple colors, long and wide rolls (perfect for those big boxes), it’s customizable (draw, stencil, use chalk markers), and it’s recyclable. Did you know that most wrapping paper isn’t recyclable? Well kraft paper can be recycled. Plus, it’s thick. So there is no chance of seeing the gift through the paper and it won’t tear when you are folding the corners. I hate it when that happens.
When wrapping my gifts, I use regular tape when taping the wrapping paper to the gift, and double-sided tape when taping the paper to itself. That way there isn’t unsightly tape all over the gift, which is super obvious when using dark colored wrapping paper. Just remember to fold the edges of the paper down and to make sharp and tight corners.
The hardest part of wrapping is tying on a ribbon. Some people are good with just sticking on a pre-made bow. The problem with pre-made bows is that they fall off and get smooshed. That is why I love wired ribbon. It doesn’t fall off, and if it gets flattened it can be fluffed up again. And the ribbon is entirely reusable!
Start by laying your wrapped gift face down on the ribbon. If your ribbon has a underside, make sure that is facing up, so when you flip the gift over you see the right side.
Wrap your ribbon around the back so that is crosses and the ends go the opposite direction. Bonus points if your ribbon covers the seams in your wrapping paper!
Flip the gift over. Have the ends of the ribbon slip under the part thats going across. Tie a knot so the ribbon isn’t slipping around. At this point, make loops like you are tying shoe laces.
Now it’s time to fluff and adjust the bow.
For the finishing touch on the ribbon, us some double sided tape to stick the ends to the box so that they look like they are hanging naturally.
Glittery ribbon is fun too…but messy!
