I’m so excited to share my Halloween table with you today. Oriental Trading was kind enough to let me pick out some of their fun Halloween decorations for my house. The moment the box arrived the girls and I tore into it and decorated anything and everything. We wanted a dark and elegant look for the table and boy did we get it. We decided on black purple and silver for our theme colors and we knew we wanted some birds on the table, which we jokingly call our “dark guardians.”
The table decor started with a plain black tablecloth which we then layered on some Stretchy White Spider Web. The best way to do this is to take some double-sided sticky tape and place a small piece of tape every 12 inches over the edge of the table and a few pieces in the middle, on to the table cloth. Then take a very small amount of web (a little goes a long way), put a little bit on the tape and stretch it over to another piece of tape. You want to avoid globs of cotton, so use a small piece and really stretch it out.
Once the web is on and spooky, it’s time to set the table. I used silver placemats with creepy red eyes, which I made, but you can use any. I’m in love with these Spooky Soiree Dinner Plates and Luncheon Napkins, which are very reminiscent of The Raven by Edgar Allan Poe. The Skeleton Hand Glasses add a touch of class to the table. They look particularly sinister filled with red punch. Can I hand you a drink? Ha ha!
My favorite addition to the table are these Spooky Bird Spindles. They are black with just a hint of purple glitter, and each one has a different bird perch upon it. They definitely keep us company while we are eating dinner.
Speaking of birds, don’t you just love these Feathered Crows who are perched on the chandelier? They are overlaid with real feathers, which make them that much more creepy. I love the one that looks like he’s about to take flight. They came with a small piece of wire attached to the feet, so they were really easy to put up and display!
Now pets are not allowed at the table in our home, but we had to make an exception for our pet rat, Sinclair. It seems he got stuck in a pumpkin. He is rather cute, but still creepy. Just don’t look at his toes. Ick!
I’m just love our Halloween table! Next we need to figure out our costumes. Check out this huge costume selection from Oriental Trading! Do you know what you are going to be?
