In an effort to introduce the sparkletots to other cultures we are going to celebrate various national holidays during the year. We have the Fourth of July down pretty well, and Cinco de Mayo is big around these parts, but what about Bastille Day, Tou Evangelismou (Greece Independence Day), Guatemalan Independence Day…the list goes on and on. There are enough that we could have a couple of celebrations a month. Each celebration will include food, music, coloring pages and maybe a movie. There is a pretty extensive list of international holidays here. Any opinions or suggestions on this idea?
Heck yah! Eman and I decided to celebrate flag day by adding a mini flag to our collection each year. You could also try Persian New Year- it’s awesome. It’s the first day of spring, so even if you aren’t Iranian it’s easy to celebrate. The food is great, the kids can make sweets, and you can do a mini haft sin (a table of 7 things that start with “s”). Last year I had a big one, and a then I made a little one for Leila out of sculpy clay.

Great idea! That haft sin for Leila is absolutely adorable. This will be fun!
Opinion: this is an awesome idea!
Suggestion: you have the food-thing covered but maybe also add music or maybe even a short film/animated film from or about the selected country?
