It’s nice and toasty here in the desert today and springtime is just around the corner. I decided that my house needs some more color. All the walls in our dining area are white. I prefer the white walls since it makes it easy to change out my decor as frequently as I want. Here’s a pic of the desk in my dining area from when I recovered the chair.
Pretty neutral, no? Time for some color..
I had this inexpensive magnet board that I bought at Ikea a few years ago while in grad school. I was never really fond of the shape or the color but it served it’s purpose.
Yeah, nothing exciting there.
I had those Marimekko remnants that I received as a gift last year from Grandma Sparklepants, that I haven’t gotten too much use out of. I chose one that had good color and went with the mid-century theme. So out came the hot glue gun and I carefully burned my fingers glued the fabric to the magnet board, starting with dots on the sides of that my fabric stayed where I wanted it to.
Then I glued just a few inches at a time on the inside, making sure the fabric remained taut, but not tight.
On the corners of the board, I folded and glued the fabric like I would a gift.
The fabric is thin enough that it doesn’t affect the attraction between the magnets and the board.
Here is my little desk area in all it’s colorful glory!
Ta da! Easy makeover, using what I have..super budget-friendly!
