I’m the kind of person who has a ton of craft supplies, but loves them so much she never uses them. Not a good thing. My stash is getting huge. To help alleviate the situation I am forcing myself to use more of it. My goal for the month of February. Valentine’s Day cards are a perfect way to use some of this stuff.
I entered into a Valentine card swap over at Crow and Canary, where I send four people some handmade Valentine’s and I will get four in the mail. AHHHH the pressure! I made my Valentine’s yesterday and got them sent off. But it took all day. The constant interruptions from the Sparkletots and Sputnik the sparkledog didn’t help either. Since I don’t want to ruin the surprise for the recipients, I’m just going to show you the prototypes today.
They turned out a lot little too frilly for me. So these are the Valentine’s I won’t be sending.
The important thing to note from this Valentine’s fail.. is the glitter. German glass glitter to be precise. Pretty much my new love in life.
It’s hard to photograph the true brilliance of this stuff. It is so shiny and pretty, being made of real shards (sharp!) of glass and pure silver. Over time the silver will tarnish and have this vintag-y look. I think the red German glass glitter will tarnish too, but I’m not sure. Be careful with it though. I have a couple scrapes on my knuckles from playing with this stuff. I got mine off of ebay, six dollars for 4 ounces. Not too shabby.
