This image depicts a yellow bowl with some brownies piled in it with the summer cake topper displayed in the brownies.

Get crafty and celebrate summer with this DIY Summer cake topper made with shiny foiled paper.

While I normally want to kick off summer with a cake or cupcakes, I was outvoted and this delicious pan of brownies was exactly what the family wanted for a summer treat. No problem though, because this plate of treats is decorated with a great little cake topper that literally screams SUMMER! You can make your own summer cake topper using this tutorial!

INSTRUCTIONS

This image depicts a computer screen showing Silhouette Software, the svg of the summer cake topper design and the arrow over the offset panel.

In your electronic cutting machine software, size both the sun and the word ‘summer.’ Group them together and then use the offset panel to create an outline of the whole design. Ungroup the whole design and separate each element to its own page.

This image shows the cut outs of all the pieces of the summer cake topper, a paper straw and the Xyron creative station in the background.

Using cardstock, cut out two pieces of the background and the word ‘summer.’ Then cut out the sun, the center of the sun and the word ‘summer’ again, using Rinea foiled paper.

This image shows the foiled paper sun cut out and the word summer cut out after going through the Xyron creative station for adhesive.

Adhere the foiled paper sun cutouts to one of the background pieces. I used the Xyron Creative Station for this step. Adhere the foiled paper ‘summer’ to the cardstock ‘summer’ then stick it on top of the sun.

This image depicts the summer cake topper being put together.

Flatten the top part of the paper straw and glue it between the two background pieces of cardstock.

This is a square image of the summer cake topper in the pile of browinies.

Stick it in some fresh brownies and enjoy!
