This honeydew basil margarita is a perfectly refreshing tequila cocktail recipe. The combination of sweet melon with the subtle basil flavor makes this drink flavorful and fun.
I’m just going to say that you will love this Honeydew Basil Margarita. You’ll probably want two. Don’t blame me if you you get all wild and crazy with the karaoke mic. This cocktail is just that good. The honeydew makes it sweet and the basil adds depth to the flavor of these margs. I used my favorite Casamigos Blanco Tequila. And no, I don’t just like it because it has George Clooney’s signature on the bottle, but it does help. Of course any high-quality tequila blanco will do.

Run to the market and grab a fresh honeydew melon and fresh basil. And no, that old dried basil in your spice cabinet won’t work. Sorry. Wait, while your there, just throw that dried basil out. Fresh basil is the best. There, I said it. Sorry, not sorry. If you have a juicer, it will make the best honeydew juice, since it will discard the pulp for you. But a simple fine mesh strainer or cheese cloth will work as well.

- 1.5 cups of fresh honeydew melon
- 5-6 fresh basil leaves
- 1.5 ounces tequila
- 1 tablespoon simple syrup
- 2 tablespoons lime juice
- sugar and/or salt for rimming glass
- basil for garnish.
- Blend together melon and basil leaves until liquified. Run through a strainer to get out any large pieces of basil or melon.
- In a cocktail shaker add ice, honeydew basil mixture, tequila, simple syrup and lime juice.
- Shake well.
- Pour over ice into rimmed glass.
Don’t forget the garnish! Take a sprig of fresh basil and dip it into the simple syrup. Let the syrup drip off for a second, then lightly sprinkle with large sugar crystals and edible glitter. Or use this edible glitter spray!
