You may have noticed that things have been a little quiet on the blog lately. Sweet baby girl Brecklen arrived a couple of weeks ago and life has been about getting as much snuggle time as possible! Of course life with this baby is so much different than it was when the other two were itty bitty. The most noticable difference is that with the first two, life really slowed down. We could stay in our jammies all day and go for a walk along the canal with our one dog and just be baby focused. Well it’s not quite like that now. With this baby we have things to do and places to go. Baby and I get the big girls to school in the mornings, soccer practice in the evenings and tournaments on the weekends. Plus we have the dogs to walk and piles of laundry to wash and put away. But don’t think there isn’t time for snuggles. We are almost always snuggling thanks to the Nesting Days Infant Carrier.
I have to say that I’m in love with baby-wearing. When the older girls were born I was afraid to wear them because most of the options were either wraps or slings. I was so scared that I wouldn’t make the wrap secure enough and the baby would fall out that I didn’t use them. Those fears are gone with the Nesting Days infant carrier. Baby is tucked into it and her head is right on my chest. She sleeps so soundly while listening to my heart beat, which is the sweetest thing ever. I often find myself kissing the top of her head, just because she is right there. And while she is there I am able to fold the laundry, work on the blog, walk the dog or whatever else needs to get done.
My view of baby in her Nesting Days carrier.
The Nesting Days carrier is designed for skin-to-skin contact. In the hospital the lactation consultant told me that skin-to-skin time helps babies bond with their mothers, and babies that spend time skin-to-skin tend to adapt to breastfeeding quicker. So of course I was all over that. So while I’m at home I wear the Nesting Days carrier with just a nursing bra, and Brecklen wears just a diaper. My body heat keeps her toasty warm and we get our skin-to-skin time. It also makes breastfeeding so easy, you just pull down one of the wings and you can easily and comfortably feed baby.
When we are out and about I love to wear the baby rather than keep her in a car seat or in the stroller. Since she is still so little, I feel more comfortable having her right next to my body and I know exactly what’s going on with her at any moment. Plus, I find that strangers are less likely to touch her when she is being worn, keeping her away from some potential germs.
The carrier is super easy to put on, you just step into it and the spandex band forms a pouch. Then you pull up the shoulders put you arms through the arm holes. Tuck the baby in the little pouch and tie it on the side. There are loops to adjust it so baby’s head isn’t covered or in an awkward position. It’s simple and secure, and the enclosed card with photo instructions are so easy to follow. Plus it comes in a little bag, so you can throw it in your diaper bag or purse when on-the-go!
I wear the carrier daily, so it’s great that it is machine washable. I wash it and hang it to dry in the evening and it’s ready to be worn the following morning. I couldn’t be any happier with this carrier. It’s so convenient, stylish and I get so many compliments on it daily.
I was provided with a Nesting Days carrier in return for a review. All opinions and photos are my own.
